What does reputation or class divides have to do with “i can / cannot replicate your findings”?
Reputation, class analysis, these are attempted explanations (of unproven utility) bolted on after the fact. The fact is, either your scientific finding is of sound methodology and can be replicated, or it is not proven.
- scarface74 6y agoConservatives are also more likely to be religious. How do you live by both the scientific method and believe in things that are non scientific?
- mcphage 6y agoThey can be entirely different domains.
- tonyedgecombe 6y agoBetter ask Knuth. People can be very smart in one area of their life and incredibly dumb in another.
- bioinformatics 6y agoSo to be religious means that you are dumb in one area?
- scarface74 6y agoDumb implies you don’t have the ability to learn. It takes a lot of cognitive dissonance to both be a person of faith who believes in something that’s not at all scientific and be a scientist. I bet even most religious people who read texts from other religions dismiss them as fairy tales much as everyone alive today dismisses the Ancient Greek/Roman gods.
