Cyberpunk 2077 dev breaks promise, will force employees to work six days a week
- accrual 6y ago> "I take it upon myself to receive the full backlash for the decision," Badowski wrote in the email. "I know this is in direct opposition to what we’ve said about crunch. It’s also in direct opposition to what I personally grew to believe a while back — that crunch should never be the answer. But we’ve extended all other possible means of navigating the situation" I've appreciate the honesty here. Even if they are going back on their word, Badowski is still taking responsibility and I feel that's an important facet to consider. CD Projekt Red has taken a rare game development stance by basically saying "it'll be ready when it's ready". At some point business requirements become unavoidable and even in the face of those requirements they're trying to remain honest about the situation. That says a lot to me. I'll be buying the game and fully support any delays or bugs that might come with the product.
- 0xy 6y agoThis game has all the hallmarks of overhype and unachievable expectations. I'm really worried about it. There's a laundry list of features that have already been axed and people who have got their hands on builds this year have stated that some of the core mechanics like driving are really bad. Sometimes game developers pour too much gasoline on the hype fire and it ends up backfiring spectacularly. No Man's Sky comes to mind, although in that case it was far more egregious (false statements by the CEO on the capabilities of the product).
