Cloudflare Web Analytics
- Lucent 6y agoReally hope this develops into a full-fledged competitor to Plausible/Matomo/Fathom/Simple, which are way overpriced at scale. Would also like to see it keep more than a week of data for historical (anonymized) comparison. I've also never seen an analytics product that attempted to deduplicate or correlate data between server logs and JavaScript beacons, for example to count the number of cached PWA visits or display a percentage of users with JS disabled. Cloudflare is uniquely positioned to do this robustly.
- joshmanders 6y agoHow is Plausible/Matomo/Fathom/Simple over priced at scale? I use Fathom and their pricing is $75/mo for 2M views a month... If you're getting that much traffic, $75/mo is a BARGAIN.
- driverdan 6y agoMatomo is open source and can be self-hosted. How is pricing an issue?
- rkwz 6y agoYou can try https://www.goatcounter.com https://www.goatcounter.com if price is an issue :)
- XCSme 6y agoYou can self-host Matomo and it should be cheaper. You could also try the product[0] that I'm working on, which is also self-hosted, but more modern/efficient than Matomo and that also provides some of their premium features in the self-hosted form. - XzAeRosho 6y agoBlog post here: https://blog.cloudflare.com/free-privacy-first-analytics-for-a-better-web/ https://blog.cloudflare.com/free-privacy-first-analytics-for... Important points: * Live now for all paying customers. * No specific date for free-tier customers. * You will be able to use this without DNS changes using a Javascript beacon.
- pluc 6y agoLive for Galileo customers as well.
- iammru 6y agoSuper cool. We've 'upgraded' from GA to GA360 because we wanted to get additional features. I wonder SaaS products you'd recommend on top (campaign management, customer lifecycle analytics, etc) on top GWA. Any suggestions?
- hashamali 6y agoSo impressed by Cloudflare’s rate of new and improved product launches.
- dynamite-ready 6y agoThey do create some excellent stuff. Their 'Workers' product is incredibly well thought out. Makes me pay close attention to the rest of their catalogue.
- avolcano 6y agoThis link currently points to the wrong place. Should either be https://www.cloudflare.com/web-analytics/ https://www.cloudflare.com/web-analytics/ or https://blog.cloudflare.com/free-privacy-first-analytics-for-a-better-web/ https://blog.cloudflare.com/free-privacy-first-analytics-for...
- tiffanyh 6y agohttps://logflare.app https://logflare.app I really like logflare. I hope this doesn't impact them too much.
- toredash 6y agoHow is logflare relevant for analytics?
- pluc 6y agoThis is a decent start to a product that hopefully, will become more complex over time because as it is now, I can't see it overthrowing much in the analytics space - mostly because of the lack of user-controlled behaviour and customizations. It's a great way to have analytics without using analytics though, since CF is going to sit in front of your traffic anyway.
- johnklos 6y agoI think you're (wrongly) assuming that Cloudflare should be the de facto thing in front of traffic.
- snazz 6y agoIf you're a potential customer for this product, then Cloudflare already sits in front of your traffic anyway. I doubt that this product is going to be used by many people who weren't already Cloudflare customers.
- dividuum 6y agoFrom the blog linked in the comments: “We don’t want to know what you do on the Internet — it’s not our business”. So they built a product that allows others to track what you are doing. And they don’t fingerprint, because “users have no way to opt out”, so they track server-side with no way to opt-out. I feel gaslighted.
- propelol 6y agoThey say they don't track users and devices, it's just monitoring the traffic.
