I'm suprised that the guest additions are not open-source, shouldn't be not that difficult to make them, as you have the api documented in the main VirtualBox software. The one good thing Oracle did was put VirtualBox back into one version and make the extensions a separate package. Also adding usb 1.0 support into the main package.
