Shibboleth: Python script to check for known magic bytes at the start of a file
- eesmith 6y agoSo I have little experience in these things. The first thing I thought is "doesn't file/magic do this form me"? Eg, https://github.com/file/file https://github.com/file/file . My cursory view suggests that the shibboleth file could be exported into something that file could parse. But of course there's the overhead of all the things which shibboleth doesn't try to handle. I then wondered where the signatures came from. My again cursory view shows many file signatures which aren't in file/magic. Which makes me think they could be folded in. I'm left wondering. Cursorily.
- gregjor 6y agoHow is this different from or better than the Linux file utility? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_(command) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_(command) Shibboleth is the name of a common single sign-on service. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shibboleth_Single_Sign-on_architecture https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shibboleth_Single_Sign-on_arch...
