That is about another judge, Arbuthnot, not Baraitser.
- jjgreen 6y agoArbuthnot was the original judge for the case, but there were complaints about her impartiality so she handed it over to her subordinate, Baraitser. I believe it is still the case that Arbuthnot has not recused herself in this matter.
- pmyteh 6y agoHanding over to another judge is what recusal is, no? It also should be noted that district judges are independent office holders, and Arbuthnot's position as Chief Magistrate is largely administrative - she doesn't have the power to overrule another magistrate, that power lies with the high court.
