Texas residents warned of tap water tainted with brain-eating microbe
- SOLAR_FIELDS 6y agoWhile naegleria fowleri is a really scary disease and we do get some cases in Texas every few years especially in more stagnant lakes, as far as I understand the risk of contracting it from tap water is pretty low. To infect you in the way that it kills the water has to make it pretty far up your nose, which is why you typically only hear people getting the disease from using a neti pot with untreated tap water. I’m wondering if there are any documented transmissions of people getting it by just splashing untreated water onto their face to wash it for example.
