My own conjecture: Use nuance, but in general if someone is on your landing page they have some idea of what your product is. "Sign Up" is a well established convention that immediately signals to the user you have a platform model that requires or adds benefit through authentication. Anyway this article is from 2014 and most big platforms still use Sign Up.
