- kick 6y agoDrew...doesn't, actually, use much of it at all. I don't like the article, but you picked the one person who basically lives by what he rants about.
- boris 6y agoLet's be specific, then, and exclude any software that is built with GNU make? First thing that goes is the Linux kernel (which can only be built with GNU make). As far as I know, Alpine still relies on the Linux kernel, so that's out.

- pjmlp 6y agoPretty far, ask Android, ChromeOS and any BSD user.
- bonzini 6y agoMost BSD users I know (including most command line macOS users) do install GNU coreutils.
- icy 6y agoNobody I know does. So not a great argument, really. BSD coreutils are fantastic.
- pwdisswordfish4 6y agoBSD utils balk if you get the order of command-line switches "wrong" (an attribute shared with the Git CLI). The time wasted dealing with that alone is worth installing the GNU utils.
- Shared404 6y agoWhy would you install GNU coreutils on a BSD? Isn't the whole point that it's an integrated project?
- bonzini 6y agoFor example because BSD POSIX utilities lack some particular flag that you want.
