Blueberry Compound May Provide New Inflammatory Bowel Disease Therapy
- xphilter 6y agoI can’t wait for all the Dr. Oz neutraceuticals to pumped after this: “cure your bowels Witt blueberry extract. Get your first bottle free!”* (only $49.99 for shipping and $100 every two weeks).
- LargoLasskhyfv 6y agoWould that be different from all the currently hyped super-fruits? Aronia, Acai, Pomegrenade, ....
- felixg3 6y agoAs a sufferer from Ulcerative Colitis I am cautiously excited. I am snacking blueberries everyday and am eating the extract, maybe it helps.

- Passthepeas 6y agoI would look into paleo diets like the autoimmune protocol(AIP), the idea behind them is that removing certain foods is a lot more important than adding them for that sort of condition. Currently use a paleo/ketogenic diet to manage IBS, and fortunately blueberries (and other low sugar fruits) can fit into this sort of approach.
- bwb 6y agoThis. I've been doing AIP since 2015 when I was first diagnosed and it has been great so far.
- jcrben 6y agoTheracurmin is the best supplement for IBD I've found. But also do a biologic (Entyvio) https://www.gastrojournal.org/article/S0016-5085(19)39702-1/abstract https://www.gastrojournal.org/article/S0016-5085(19)39702-1/... I buy it on Amazon
- thelazydogsback 6y agoAs for drugs, nortriptyline helped me immediately (a few before bed for a while, then as needed) - cheap and safe drug. (Old anti-depressant, off-label for this treatment.) I also make some dietary changes (paleo-sih) which helped over time.
- sleepysysadmin 6y agoQuit carbs, enjoy the lack of UC symptoms.
- stevespang 6y agoIf you read the research publication the dosage given to mice was 100 mg. per kg. - - which is about 8 grams per human, that is HUGE. pterostilbene is related to resveratrol
- fuzzfactor 6y agoIf it could contribute to wellness by preventing a deficiency of some kind, the mere presence or absence alone could be a major factor, whether or not excessive intake has further beneficial effects.
- doitLP 6y agoWhatever else this does, keep in mind it is an immunosuppressor, which we should expect it to have many of the same side effects of similar drugs.

It is rarely worth it to read individual studies in a field you aren't expert in. Most claimed findings are false. If something works there'll be a meta-study.
