That's not communicating, a daily standup IS micro-managing. It's an incredibly destructive and soul-crushing anti-management technique. No-one needs to have daily updates. Weekly, twice weekly, maybe, daily is simply treating people like small children. Communication is a two-way street, not irrational cargo culted standups.
