  Growing up very poor, I feel like I'm not speaking from an ivory tower: struggling financially causes you to lean more heavily on your personal relationships.

    If you started your life very poor, you didn't fail. Now imagine that you started your life very rich, and lost everything; asking for help would expose your financial "failure" to everyone.
