The Japanification of the United States Is Complete
- redis_mlc 6y agoI can't speak to the unfolding corona era, but let's take 2019. At a macro level, the US and Germany are "real" countries - they have robust economies based on mfg. and services - they have a future. Most other EU countries are "sick men", waiting for mailbox money from their govt - their best days were pre-WW2 in most cases. So in relative terms, the US is doing great. The US does have problems - no post-2008 financial reset, religion and family replaced with Tinder hypergamy, and now corona. (Notice I ignore BLM riots since they're insignificant - the rioters never built anything in their lives.) But there is an underlying and powerful entrepreneurial, marketing and finance DNA in the US that most countries don't have. Sadly, the small-business class is losing their capital due to corona. Japan has a relatively small and aging population with diminishing ability to market consumer products, so I'll ignore it - they can make cars, but got distracted ("woke") by DRM, simply can't do consumer software, or mobile phones, or cloud. (paraphrasing Guy K.) China in 2020 destroyed their brand, can't feed it's 1.4 billion citizens due to famine, and has seen exports reduced by 90%. Trump is about to freeze all their US financial assets. We'll see how the CCP adapts to a rapidly shrinking economy, when they only have a Plan A to expand by force.
