The USA doesn't have any concept of privacy in the digital environment which corporations could disrespect. They deal with digital data like it's a gold rush: whoever mines it, owns it. There is a fundamental difference between the constitutions, laws and ultimately the sentiment of these two "unions of nation-states": the USA simply has nothing like this:
From the Charta of Fundamental Right of the European Union:
Article 8 - Protection of personal data
1. Everyone has the right to the protection of personal data concerning him or her.
2. Such data must be processed fairly for specified purposes and on the basis of the consent of the person concerned or some other legitimate basis laid down by law. Everyone has the right of access to data which has been collected concerning him or her, and the right to have it rectified.
3. Compliance with these rules shall be subject to control by an independent authority.

It doesn't mean that the concept itself isn't possible to be disrespected, there is a lack of respect (and even considering the informal definition of disrespect to be an "insult") to data privacy in the US, there are no legal consequences to it though.
