A Covid-19 Vaccine for Children May Not Arrive Before Fall 2021
- rogerkirkness 6y agoPopulation risk of dying from covid in children is 1 in 2.6 million. Equivalent to a few thousand kids not getting a flu shot level of risk. If we don't have a flu shot law, this will be fine.
- lm28469 6y agoYou don't have to die to be contagious. Kids + school + contagious virus = no bueno for anyone in contact with kids (teachers, family, &c.) - just-juan-post 6y agoOh boy it's the latest scare! > series of four similar cases were detailed Four cases. Four. > with confirmed cases in the U.S. topping 4 million — could translate into thousands of patients with neurological complications associated with COVID-19 So it's the old "we just don't know" argument. The core of your article is "we saw this < 10 times but we all need to be scared of it because we just don't know.
- lm28469 6y agoThere are plenty of other sources listing other side effects: like this one for example https://www.bbc.com/news/health-52648557 https://www.bbc.com/news/health-52648557 I think you're projecting a bit, I didn't ask you to be scared, I'm just stating it's less than optimal and that death isn't the only metric we should care for. edit: and yes, we just don't know. Obviously getting a safe vaccine now is better than getting a safe vaccine in 2021, I don't think there is much to argue here tbh.
