If you are scared to fail, go maintain Home Depot's website and iPhone app. It's ok not to be an entrepreneur.

Do the down-voters care to add any actual constructive criticism of my claim?

Yes: your contemptuous tone is not appreciated. From the guidelines: Be civil. Don't say things you wouldn't say in a face to face conversation. Would you say your exact sentence to someone who works at a big company or a research lab, someone who chose not to do a startup?

"Would you say your exact sentence to someone who works at a big company or a research lab, someone who chose not to do a startup?" Absolutely. Wynkoop Brewery (Denver, CO), every Friday happy hour (well, ~85% of the time).

On the one hand, you seem to be dismissing the person who maintains Home Depot's website and app as doing something trivial and unworthy. On the other hand, you're saying it's okay not to be an entrepreneur. The messages seem incompatible. (BTW, I did not downvote.)

Or get a job at a lab that sends satellite instruments to space. Work on really cool, mission critical software. Work with really bright scientists and programmers alike in a very relaxed and fun environment. Just sayin'.
