- jelliclesfarm 6y agoThis isn’t surprising at all. I am not ‘stunned’. I am actually in favour of monarchies. You can chop off the King’s head if things go south. With a democracy or republic, no one will take responsibility.
- aww_dang 6y agoThe author concluded that property rights were the deciding factor. A monarch would be the ultimate property holder, so it makes sense that he would strive to protect property rights. To your point, I think responsibility goes a bit further than it does for you or I. A monarch is concerned with his historical legacy and dynasty. He is born into his brand. If I create an online biz and it fails, I can simply start again in a new space with a new brand. Meanwhile politicians are incentivized by short term goals and election cycles.
