I’ve wondered if an app-store app could work as a sort of local server for different PWAs, handling notifications, hardware apis, etc.
- rektide 6y agoI keep thinking next gen native apps will just be progressive webapps running off localhost data-sources. The things keeping pwa back are not the web, not the interface capabilities. It's all the un-web platform APIs the app doesn't have access to. Run a local http server to proxy to the pwa the things the limited OS won't give the pwa but will give an app, & you get the world a best development experience that works anywhere & the icky native privilege bits you would have needed to squabble over (safari g mozillacs proud unsupport of webmidi for example) & maybe/maybe-never get as a pure pwa.
