You can compile the Lua VM into wasm+JS and run it there, yes. (for example, https://daurnimator.github.io/lua.vm.js/lua.vm.js.html https://daurnimator.github.io/lua.vm.js/lua.vm.js.html) Pure wasm doesn't work yet since the VM needs either C++ exceptions or longjmp (to unwind). Wasm exceptions support will eventually help there, but meanwhile there is a dependency on JS exceptions.
