I looked into coppicing/pollarding timber a number of years ago as a sustainable fuel sourve when I started research into modifying my truck to run on syngas from a wood gasifier. Not near as convenient as filling up a tank with petrol, but sustainable. Like so many of my other side projects, though, it is still in the "research" phase.
