What if the Earth had rings?
- philipswood 6y agoI think we should MAKE the earth some rings. Controllable ones made from large flat panels that can orientate themselves using magnetism and solar wind. We could use these to fine-tune incident solar radiation and eventually learn to influence weather and climate. Their controlled shadows can reduce incoming solar radiation. Their controlled reflection can be used to heat bodies of water and air. Maybe even melt rock (if enough are focused on one spot).
- ksaj 6y agoI wonder how much "stuff" we can send into orbit before it creates enough gravitational drag to noticeably change the length of a day, or the tides, etc.
