Why does Haskell cause an algebraic perspective while Python causes an operational one? In Python I can write: x = 2 * y + 1 which looks like algebra to me.

Why does Haskell cause an algebraic perspective while Python causes an operational one? In Python I can write:
x = 2 * y + 1
which looks like algebra to me.
I do not know Haskell, but I read about it that it is a purely functional language. So is the mindset because of that?
- maxander 6y ago"Algebraic reasoning" in this context is a (AFAIK) sort of fuzzily defined thing, but it's a reference to generalized algebra- of which the "algebra" high-school students encounter is a specialized part. Arithmetical expressions like you describe aren't what is meant there.
