Show HN: I visualised the co-occurrence of origin and variety in coffee beans
- lucideer 6y agoMight be just me, but (having never used this "Data Crayon" website before) the page text content doesn't seem to display for me. I see a table of contents, and an interactive chord diagram, but none of the links in the ToC work (I see no Preamble/Introduction/etc.) Have tried every browser on my system...
- joebo 6y agoSeems like an advertisement for a book to get access to the content. The book is authored by the same person who wrote the article and the poster is new. I flagged it
- DataCrayon 6y agoI am sharing a visualisation - and the book which shows you how to make one is advertised on the same page. Is Show HN: not for showing something you made yourself?
- lucideer 6y ago> Is Show HN: not for showing something you made yourself? It is, but the website itself contains no explanation of what it is. Yes your submission has a short, descriptive title, which is good, but the site is still very confusing to land on as a first-time visitor. Especially with the table of contents that goes nowhere. Couple that with the fact that the website is mostly made up of ad banners for 3 separate products, it makes quite an odd Show HN submission (unless the Show HN is actually "Show HN: I wrote a book called Data is Beautiful", in which case I'd suggest updating the title.
- DataCrayon 6y agoThanks for the feedback, paired with my other reply below, I'll be working on the presentation soon. I'm not a fan of the Bootstrap "jumbotron" for the banners myself either so I'll look for something else.
- DataCrayon 6y agoThanks for this - you're right , the ToC links to nothing at the moment. I was sharing the visualisation itself. I'm going to add a condition that greys out or removes the ToC in these cases so no one ends up trying it in multiple browsers!
- jacknews 6y agoNo Ethiopia, arguably the origin of coffee?
