Ask HN: Are there any 'Profile Page as a Service' available for developers?
Do you guys know of any Profile Page as a Service for software developers, that can automatically fetch user's profile data from GitHub, UpWork, Freelancer, and other sites and show them all in one place like an updated RESUME?
If not, would you be willing to use such a service (FREE or PAID?) if it existed. And how much would you be willing to pay for such a service?
- gregjor 6y agoIt’s called LinkedIn. You have to maintain your own profile but it has an audience of people looking to hire no other service has.
- apexol 6y agoLinkedIn is not specific to software developers. And besides everything has to be added and updated regularly there "manually". I was asking about a service that can pull data from GitHub (say the projects the user is actively committing currently), the active jobs on upwork, the reviews the developer got on those websites, and so forth.
- sebmellen 6y agoGregjor has the right answer. I know this might seem like a nice startup idea, but unless you know a group of people really feeling pained that there's no LinkedIn alternative, I would be wary. All good solutions start with a problem.
- apexol 6y agoThanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying here about asking people if the problem exists. I can actually connect with that part :). I actually never thought of that idea as a LinkedIn alternative. Rather one thing that came to my mind when I thought of this was 'Dynamic Resume'.

- apexol 6y agoWow, there we have it, a person who has already implemented this idea a long time back. So what made you shutdown the service? Would you be willing to share your experience?
- Jefro118 6y agoI'm working on something just like this: https://profiled.app https://profiled.app. There's a lot of improvements to make still and I a lot of features I intend to add to make it much more than simply a data aggregator.
