I'd say this is putting the cart before the horse. You deliberately choose which fields and areas you work on, but once you've done that, you simply focus on delivering the most impact/value there. i.e. aim to add the most value to the people around you (the immediate team, surrounding teams, and the greater organization) and the society in general. By making the moat-building as a goal, you risk diminishing your impact and distorting your long-term path, ironically putting you away from building a better moat.
