Association of Daily Wear of Eyeglasses with Susceptibility to Coronavirus
- belltaco 6y agoIf this is true, just wearing masks isn't going to be enough to protect against covid infection.
- jfengel 6y agoThat's why there are plexiglass barriers in a lot of stores already. The "good news", such as it is, is that mere eyeglasses appear to help a lot. Which is a little surprising, since they're not even close to air-tight. That would mean that people could make do with ordinary safety glasses, rather than full face shields. Or get fashion frames with neutral lenses. Y'all can learn to live with 'em the way I have for five decades.
- jfengel 6y agoThe title is somewhat misleading: they find a negative association of eyeglasses to coronavirus. They found only 5% of coronavirus patients wore glasses, much less than the 30% of the general population. It's not a huge study (276 patients), but one would like to think it would be easy to gather that data now that people know to look for it.
