I use both browsers on my desktop simultaneously. I use Firefox for my Gmail and Facebook, so that my tracking is sandboxed in that browser along with tracking cookies, and most other browsing through chrome. If there’s a difference in speed between the two it’s largely academic, because I can’t tell the difference. Plus I’m on an 8 year old desktop that I’ve yet to upgrade.
