Half of the reason to go into the office is knowing how to interact with your co-workers and gauge at what level of formality you need to interact with each other, as well as just getting to know each other.
Human interaction is as much non-verbal communication as verbal communication, and video conferences and slack leave a lot missing there.
- paulryanrogers 6y agoDepends on the person. I've found offices and their in person politics tiresome. Remote grants workers a bit more control and autonomy for many roles with few downsides.
- linspace 6y agoMe too but I don't see right now an alternative to getting things done in a big company. Solving this problem should earn a Nobel prize in economics (and a fortune in consulting)
