So,given that there are no good competitors , i don't really bother about this anymore. But,if there were good alternative choices , I would think of it.
- linkdd 6y agoThere is a list at the bottom of the page. Personally, I got tired of managing a Gentoo and switched to Alpine and a Debian chroot for binaries linked with glibc (steam, chrome, ...).
- PenguinCoder 6y agoAlpine is amazing for container work and minimal systems. I really love using it where I can.
- mmm_grayons 6y agoArtix is pretty good; just arch without systemd. I like alpine, too, though using musl can pose some issues.
- cnasc 6y agoThere’s a grid of 21 distros on that page
- cbsks 6y agoGentoo supports multiple init systems: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Init_system https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Init_system https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Gentoo_Without_systemd https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Gentoo_Without_systemd
- afranchuk 6y agoGood is very subjective :) but I've enjoyed using void linux [1] which has runit [2] rather than systemd. I believe a few other distros support runit (albeit maybe not officially), including Arch Linux.
