OP is clearly trying to get a job in government. I hate to say it, and I mean this with the least amount of offence possible, but typically UK government jobs require you to look the part more than having sufficient technical knowledge. OP is applying for deputy head of governmental departments without the required background experience and to my untrained eye, the gravitas required. Perhaps a trip to the barber is warranted.
