- aero-glide 6y agoWhenever news about Chelsea Manning was posted on reddit, few comments (falsely) posted how Manning leaks were of no use, etc. "Internet armies" is very real, not some conspiracy.
- mhh__ 6y agoNo use to whom?
- aero-glide 6y agoBasically they were pushing the narrative that Manning only leaked info which put US personal in danger. That his leaks didn't really reveal any human rights violations.
- fiblye 6y agoYeah, I remember that. Just massive floods of comments saying she's clearly a traitor and no punishment is severe enough. It was weird, because news started out as a blend of neutral/positive/negative when the issue was first known. Then suddenly--and not only on reddit--within 30 minutes of a Chelsea Manning topic being posted anywhere, it would have an absurd number of outrageous, angry responses. The same happened with Assange news. Sometimes even Snowden.
- trident1000 6y agoIll put my tin foil hat on and say the internet is completely manipulated with fake commenters for a host of reasons...because it is. Probably something like 70/30 fake to real proportion.
