Tesla driver found asleep at wheel of self-driving car doing 150km/h
- d3nj4l 6y agoTesla is almost certainly going to get sued at this rate. Calling a feature that needs constant driver supervision "autopilot" should already be treated as advertising fraud, but soon enough someone will die because a Tesla owner didn't read the fine print on what it means, and at that point Tesla has to be just as liable.
- mtgx 6y agoHumans are not robots. You can't just read a ToS to them and expect them to comply 100%, always. Heck, even machines don't have that kind of reliability in performing any task. So why do we expect humans to have it? My point is, either these cars COMPLETELY take the driving away from you, or do NOTHING close to it. Anything in-between will create disasters (and a lot of loss of life). The fact that authorities have gone along with this idea that all the car makers using these "auto-pilot" have to do is beep constantly at you when you have your hands off the wheel or after a few miles, is ridiculous. How well has the beeping worked for putting your seatbelt on? I'm betting it's nowhere close to 100%. It's completely unfair to put the responsibility on the driver with these systems, especially when the marketing departments of these companies do kind of want you to think you can do more with it than you really ought to.
