I had this happen a couple of years back too. At least I think this is exactly what happened. It was an obscure'ish name too, and it seemed like within 30 minutes it was gone and registered by GoDaddy. I know this is statistically possible as just coincidence and bad luck, and I thought about it that time and concluded they must have just nabbed it (wrote an angry message to support that went nowhere).
