If someone is calling me, without texting first, I assume that either (a) my boss wants me immediately, or (b) someone is in the hospital.

  Probably a generational thing. I get far more phone calls than texts. I’d think it was super weird if a friend texted me before calling me.

    Both seem fine to me. Maybe I'm "middle aged" now.

    Furthermore, a lot of people still have landlines and that's the number that they give out to service people, etc. That was the case with me until very recently. There are very few people I'd expect to give me a call out of the blue these days rather than texting or emailing. But for that circle, I'm in the same boat as you.
