- lurker345 6y agoor those that will happily let our freedoms be taken away from us by a convenient 'medical emergency'
- avgDev 6y agoSo, wearing a mask takes away your freedom, but wearing pants and underwear does not remove your freedom? How about all the other laws? Wearing seat belt? Why can't we drink/use drugs and drive? If anything masks should be welcome by conspiracy theorists, as those hide your face from cameras and AI in public.
- aceman22 6y agoHow about forcing mom and pops to close while huge multinationals are allowed to stay open and eat up their market share? It's borderline fascist.
- not_kurt_godel 6y agoYou know, I agree with this in the sense that Trump, a fascist, let it happen the way it did out of pure reckless negligence and very possibly active malice. It is indeed pretty fascist to knowingly let a deadly virus rip through the nation unimpeded with all the ill consequences it entails, including economic distortions that disproportionately hurt small players. (Too political for HN? Guess we'll see.)
- lurker345 6y agoI'm not really talking about masks, wear whatever you want, as long as it's your choice.
- purerandomness 6y agoIs that really your definition of freedom? Having it a bit easier to infect other people during a pandemic? Honestly, how can this make sense to you?
- echlebek 6y agoNo. Go to this website. https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#cases_totalcases https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#cases_totalcases Do you see how many people have died? That's right. over 195,000 people. It's not convenient for anyone that this is happening. There are a lot of people barely holding on right now. And you're in here complaining about some perceived loss of freedom?
- lurker345 6y agocute, how many _excess_ deaths are there? Also, how many suicides are there going to be that are the direct consequence of shutting down everything and causing people to lose their jobs and businesses.
- glial 6y agoFreedom comes with responsibility.
- jazzyjackson 6y agoHow can you have freedom if the pandemic continues?
