My internist's hospital group uses Epic, and while I'm sure it cost a pretty penny to license the feature, you can download an iOS app to view your test results, request appointments, send a secure message to the doc, etc. I could really see a downmarket version of this as valuable for the type of physician who isn't associated with a huge hospital group and can't afford and doesn't need anything like what you'd get from Epic, Cerner, or the like.
