I have a feeling that most positions like that are filled through networking and word-of-mouth if not from internal promotion. Not many companies who want somebody like that are confident that they can determine if they really are that skilled in an interview. And not many people who have jobs at that level already have much interest in the usual rigamarole of most technical interviews.
