Breakthrough in vision?

At least this looks better than the kinect and it uses webcams and is under the GPL! I'm a layman in vision so I can't judge if this really is a breakthrough and I know the video alone, is at least 3 months old. But since I haven't seen it before, I thought others might be just as excited as I am.
