Interesting, I was thinking the exact same thing but in regard to real-life things. Like imagine cars / roads were invented today do you thing they would have all have this same ubiquitous elongated design, with the grill in front and two headlights in the side, or maybe cars would be completely round maybe they would be made generally with standup room, one big head light across the bottom etc. While some of these design decisions are practical, I believe a lot would be different if we would reimagine it from the bottom up. The reason - for instance - cars cannot be wider is because the wouldn't fit on today's roads roads. Existing safety regulations also prevent certain design possibilities.

Holyshit, I have thought about the exact same thing. Like totally questioning everything about cars and why do they look the way they look. Cheers, made my day. Have you also though about how we see 3 holes on a face (2 eyes and 1 mouth, ignoring the downward facing holes of the nostrils) as normal. Just add one more and it’s horror. We take these things granted and then slight changes to it is completely terrifying. I also wonder - if we rewind evolutionary time and restart with slightly different initial conditions, not sure what species including humans would even exist in the same form. It would likely be like that game Spore.
