We barely throw money at existential threats like nuclear de-escalation, pandemics, and climate catastrophe. If we can't even try to ensure the lives of those here now are regular length, what makes you think anyone in government is going to search for a fountain of youth? Science needs it's own legs to stand on here before government swoops in. Right now, its mostly hype and smoke and mirrors, there's nothing I've seen that warrants government funding.
