The recommendation engine is bizarre too. I have had minimal interaction with the app, and follow a handful of people. Once I've read their updates, I get 'recommended' posts that are mostly pro-Trump stuff with the occasional random same-looking model from wherever the fuck. Considering that my Instagram account is linked to my Facebook account, they should be able to figure out that I'm a left-leaning European nerd with very little interest in puffy-lipped models... Meanwhile TikTok has been eerily good at recommending stuff that amuses or interests me, with very little input from my end of things.
