I've done the reverse (connecting to bluetooth speaker) out of the box on Ubuntu. So I'm surprised you'd need to install an extra PulseAudio module. Perhaps the BT module was already installed? Or do you only need the BT module to handle input, but output works via the kernel's BT stack?
