  50 km/h is also to low. 90 km/h is pretty much the minimum for a car. Most major cities will have a good number of people coming in on highways. 45km/h is the lowest legal speed for a Danish highways, but that’s still pretty dangerous and you’d be a hassel to the other drivers, which is also illegal. I can get work either via a highway, or by driving through the center of town. Besided adding to trafic in the city center, I’m also looking at an additional 30 minute drive. In my mind by only designing these tiny city cars to urban driving, manufactures are limiting them to the extend that they are bound to fail. Instead, with minor tweaks, they could remove full size cars and help lower pollution levels.

    This is the car version of a "knallert" (motor scooter / moped). There are other vehicles for driving on the highway, but in Europe they need crash protection and so on.
