TIL: Britain has an embassy in the DPRK!
- toyg 6y agoWhy would it not? The UK recognises NK as a country and is not at war or in any serious dispute with it, so it makes sense.

What you are saying is true for many countries, still most of them do not have an embassy in North Korea. The reason being probably also that it is quite expensive (as every embassy is) while not providing a lot of benefits because trade/cultural relationships with North Korea are very difficult.
- Symbiote 6y agoThere's a cost to running an embassy. Most countries don't have embassies in every other country, although the UK has more than most. For example, there is no British embassy or consulate in Benin.
- chrisseaton 6y agoSo do many countries, large and small, first, second and third world, friendly, not-so-friendly. Embassies are how countries communicate. It makes sense to have an embassy there if you need to talk to a country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_diplomatic_missions_in_North_Korea https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_diplomatic_missions_in...
