Not sure I agree with your first point (I do think people add pointless images though, which muddies the water somewhat) but that's an interesting point about partially-sighted users that I hadn't considered before. There's clearly not a binary blind / not blind distinction in people. Thanks for pointing that out - I'll consider that in future.
