I'm playing it for the first time, and I feel like the first two hours were straightforward progress, and then the last hour is when it turned into an idle game where I just have to sit and wait, apparently in sight of the finish line. I think I can see that if you understood in advance how a couple pieces worked and what projects were in the pipeline, you can plan ahead and finish quickly, though.
