True, I see many Ruby, PHP and Java job postings and few Elixir/Phoenix jobs. I hope that will change, because Elixir is so much more productive and fun to program in IMHO. In the meantime I will be building awesome things with it.
- joelbluminator 6y ago> I hope that will change I don't think so. Let me explain: Elixir is now 9 years old. Node is 11 years, Golang is 10 years. Node and Go peaked in popularity very fast. Everyone knows of Elixir already, it's not as if there are countries / organisations who aren't aware it exists as was the case in the 90s with Ruby for example. So Elixir already peaked imo, and didn't catch enough traction. And it will only go downhill from here. I'm not saying this out of spite: I'm a Rubyist and well aware Ruby lost and continues to lose traction as well. But Ruby was able to capture a big enough segment during it's peak to last. I'm not sure this happened with Elixir. I hope Elixir people can keep getting paid for decades, don't get me wrong, I'm just not sure there are gonna be enough jobs for them.
