One way to deal with this is to use the element picker mode of uBlock Origin. Often it's not too much of a hassle to just zap the bell icon and be done with it.

- reportgunner 6y agoYou could also enable uBO's 'I am an advanced user' mode in the settings and block all images on the website. I've been doing that for youtube to block video thumbnails and it works really well for me.
