Honestly, I get really tired of seeing games that aren't like Rogue calling themselves Roguelikes in the effort to make money
That word was well defined long before the people who will soon inevitably whine at me were born

- JohnHaugeland 6y agoYes, I'm sure you think that's a highly important distinction "Roguelite" is what a bad game developer calls their game when they're sick of Roguelike people saying "this isn't a roguelike, fuck off" There is literally no definition to Roguelite other than "we're not allowed to call this a roguelike anymore" It's a complete fucking grab bag of shit games, mostly sidescrollers, which have any one random feature (usually permadeath) which can be found in nine million games but also rogue so fuck it let's ruin the entire genre so that steam fans will give us twelve dollars
