I would suggest having a close look at the OpenAPI specification as a way to bound and constrain your REST API design: https://swagger.io/specification/ https://swagger.io/specification/ Once you start thinking in terms of requests, responses, parameters, schemas etc the rest should easily fall into place! You also get the benefit of having a machine readable definition of your API if you write your design with the spec.
